Meet Mark Manton, MTIC Director

markmantonLearn how his personal healing journey lead to the founding of a school...

Mark first experienced the benefits of massage therapy in 1969 when he was treated for a climbing injury. Mark expressed an interest in learning massage and his therapist taught him a basic massage routine. This experience inspired Mark to pursue more training in Natural Healing and massage. In 1969 Mark met Scot Cameron, a gifted interpreter of Chinese language, who introduced Mark to Taoism and Native traditions. Mark studied Natural Medicine using herbs, nutritional therapy, and holistic health with Scot Cameron from 1969 -1972.

From 1976 -1984 Mark attended the International Center for Natural Health and Medicine (ICNHM). He completed a 4 year 4,000 hour clinical training in Natural Health and Medicine that included Holistic Health, Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Medicine, Exercise Therapy, Manual Therapy and Martial Arts.

During this time Mark continued his private practice in massage and natural medicine and taught classes at ICNHM. He also became a certified Martial Arts instructor after 8 years of training with Robert Cooper at ICNHM.

Over the years Mark's interest in bodywork has led to an extensive amount of additional training. The list includes Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Basic and Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Manipulation, Myofascial Release, Acupressure, Tuina, Shiatsu, Functional Manipulative Procedure, Cranial Therapy, Manual Therapy and Structural-Functional Balancing and Integration. Mark has been practicing bodywork since 1970 and has over 30,000 hours of clinical and classroom experience.

Mark's years of interest and study in Chinese Medicine and Tai Ji led to his co-founding the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CSTCM) in 1989.

Mark's passion for Natural Medicine, Chinese Medicine and Massage inspired the creation of these schools. The schools provide a center complete with training and therapy facilities where health professionals, students, patients and the public can participate in the experience of Natural Medicine.

Mark is a Licensed Acupuncturist, a NCCAOM Diplomate in Chinese Herbology and a Registered Naturopath.
