Satisfactory Progress Policy
To make satisfactory progress in a course of study toward a certificate, a student must maintain attendance, earn specific grades of at least 85% in the course of study and examinations, maintain a specific grade average of at least 85%, and proceed through the program at a pace leading to completion in a specified time period. An academic year is four quarters or one full year.

The development of hand skills as well as the professional knowledge and aptitude necessary for successful results in massage therapy practice are of paramount importance to this training. Students will be scheduled for private evaluation sessions to assess hand skill development and to review practicum experience and record keeping. These private sessions offer the student personalized time for instruction and support as well as a place for open communication regarding any aspect of the training.

Separately, students are evaluated on class subject matter through regular testing in Anatomy, Physiology, Massage Theory and Massage Techniques. Class participation and the ability to

organize and present information and techniques relevant to bodywork skills are also under assessment.

Satisfactory Progress
Students will be required to complete the program within the allotted one year to avoid the imposition of additional fees for tutorials or mentorship. The maximum timeframe for the student to complete the requirements for a certificate is 18 months. One-half, or 300 hours, would have to be completed at the midpoint of 9 months.

Satisfactory progress is determined through attendance records, class participation, completion of all tests and assignments, and demonstrating hand skills and technical proficiency.

Failure to keep up with assignments will result in probation or dismissal. Each case is reviewed by the director on an individual basis.

Attendance Policy
MTIC has a 100% attendance policy, which means you MUST attend all classes. Sometimes an individual will miss some class time. If you miss more than 10% of class time during any quarter you will be put on probation. All of these hours, including coming late or leaving early, must be made up before your certificate and transcript will be prepared.

Attendance Procedures
The Attendance is taken by the instructor and recorded each time the class meets, tests scores are recorded before the tests are handed back for review and returned. The hands-on massage applications are evaluated throughout the training at specific junctures in the training. The evaluations are recorded at that time. It’s the student’s responsibility to get any material, which is made-up recorded on a make-up form and signed by the instructor.

System of Reporting Grades
Grades for the coursework and exams will be entered into the students file. Grades from quizzes will be returned within 14 days. Students are also apprised of their progress during the private evaluation sessions. On written request to the school office and a fee of $10, the student will receive an official copy of their original transcript.

Grading System

A= 4 points = 93 - 100%
B = 3 points = 85 - 92%
C = 2 points = 78 - 84%
D = 1 point = 70 - 77%
F = 0 points = 69% or less
I = 0 points

Students are required to maintain an 85% or better grade in all of their evaluations in order to establish and maintain satisfactory progress in the program. Courses are evaluated on the basis of attendance, punctuality, participation, technique and application of method, or written examinations.

Incompletions
The maximum amount of time that can elapse before an incomplete grade becomes a failing grade is six months after the end of a program. Incompletions will affect the satisfactory academic progress and will result in the failure of the certificate program.

Course & Test Repetitions
Grades for course or test repetitions cannot exceed 85%.

Non-credit Remedial Classes
MTIC does not offer remedial classes.

Tardiness
You will be required to make-up 30 minutes if you arrive late or leave early 5-35 minutes and 1 hour make-up will be required if you arrive late or leave early 35-65 minutes. Please be aware of the hours and the type of make-up you need to complete.

Makeup
If you miss a class, you need to make up the “time” as well as the “content”. For example, if you miss a body work class of 4 hours, you will need to make up the “content” (learn the stroke), which may only take you 1-2 hours in a tutorial, but you will also need to make-up the “time” to equal the 4 hours of the class you missed. This is at the discretion of the primary instructor. Please check with them to make sure
what the acceptable make-up is for the “content” and “time” you missed.
